A Song for You…

Posted by soumiksdiary on February 27, 2007

Though you don’t possess eyes
bluer than she had possessed,
She who for fun
had torn the sky into pieces

Though you don’t posses eyes cloudy like the storm
By the end of summer
You are every summer and every storm
Of my world

I ask the star which was meant to guide the lost
Why of all the wishes in the world you have chosen me
The star which is constantly looking at the river
I don’t know why of all the wishes in the world I have chosen you either

Place me on your sholder
Place me like the seal on the heart
Feel the taste of my craving
Place me like the seal

Though you don’t possess the hand
which burns the cheek like the fire
Hand of a boy
who left his scarf in the wardrobe

altough you dont have a hand
like this which knocks the key to your
hand in your heart,
though mine always look for!!!!!!!!!!!

IIFM PLACEMENT: My Thought

Posted by soumiksdiary on February 8, 2007

First of all, let me clear that I am not a rebel nor a radical thinker. Simple thoughts come to my simple mind and I try to find answers. So one wired thought..though it was coming to my mind but it is triggered by the debate competition of literary club on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration of IIFM. The question is whether IIFM’s mandate matches with IIFM’s placement?

Now what is IIFM’s mandate–in 1982 when the IIFM was established it aimed to provide managerial input in forest and allied sector ( though the term “allied sector” is very vague) for conservation of forest, biodiversity leading to better socio and economic condition of India.

Now see this year’s placement. Eight people going in India Bulls, 7 in ICICI-Prudential, 5 in HDFC, 7 in ICICI-RMAG, 3 in IMRB and 1 in OLAM international. So 32 students out of 41 are going in banking, marketing research and timber procurement. So where is forest? Does anyone smelling the scent of tree?

The people are arguing that those are going in the Banking Sector are serving the forest allied sector. How? The answer is that they will work in Rural sector and Microfinance sector which will help the rural people in income generation leading to less dependency on forest and conservation of forest with socio-economic development. Now is not the answer itself ironical? The people going in banking sector- what they will do to uplift the people? Microfinace- which bank in India giving loan to the tribal who are the intregal part of forest in India. The penetration of MF in tribal society is only 2-3%. Again the credit which giving till now major portion is going for Animal Husbandry. So where is forest? Will ICICI-Prudential give insurance to people with empty stomach.

What kind of profile India bulls, HDFC and ICICI-RMAG are giving ? In simple words - It is  to “Sale”. They have nothing to do with the social upliftment. Rural market is untapped. So trap it. Pure Business Motive. There is no linkage with Livelihood in this. They are right on their motive perhaps. But does IIFM fit into it if we see its mandate?

So why IIFM. Can any one justify the fact that the profile HDFC or ICICI-PRU or India Bulls giving to XIMB or IRMA students is same as IIFM student. So why “F”. It could be as “Indian Institute of Rural Banking Management or XYZ management”.

It is easy to blame Students. Then it will be ridiculous.  Where is the opening in forestry sector? What is Govt is doing to absorb IIFM students.

Again the mandate was made in 1979..it has been 29 years had gone..do IIFM need to revise it’s mandate? who will have the final answer?

At the end of the day the money matters and it can be said that all the violation of mandate is for good of students. So everyone is happy and im also…and sincerely waiting for the placement party by Seniors.

Anwar

Posted by soumiksdiary on February 4, 2007

Last week I saw Anwar.First i will tell about Anwar. what kind of movie Anwar is? Let me say in different way: suppose u are floating on a river in a houseboat in sunderban with the hope that u will be able to see the royal bengal tiger but u end up only hearing the roaring of tiger. Anwar is like that.so much expectation was dere regarding this movie and really so much potential it has to become Good movie..still it fails. why it fails?
first of all lack of proper vision of the director Manish Jha who’s debut is this movie.secondly bollywood culture..do all the movie need to be two and half hour affair, cant it be short if the story demands. Anwar is love story based on the contemporary sociopolitical situation of India. It is story of a man’s aspiration to love someone more than life. The debutante Siddharth Kairala(brother of Manisha kairala) is the lead actor. He has done very commendable job but as i told already that the proper binding of the story has faded his performance.Does Manish Jha not been able to find any good editor. Manish also lacks in placing right person in right place. The character of Vijayraj(’krishna’ in the movie) is amazing but when ever vijayraj came to screen people tend to laugh..is that manish wanted. so much pain, sensitivity is attached with the character..but alas..all in vain. Is it that the movie does not have any thing mention worthy..not like that..the best thing about the movie is its music..the ” maula maula” is already superhit..but i like the Pankaj Avasti’s song(its tune is very similar to Karam’s tilte song). Manish has protraited some picture in part which was very prominent during the showing of title card. Some do not like the idea of protraiting anwar in as avatar krishna and some were laughing seeing this..but i dnt know what makes them laugh. in this society when All Hindu think Muslim as terrorist and all Muslim think hindu as “kafer”..does the intermixing of anwar with “krishna” too much symbolic?
