Truly said.... about the need to go to the root of the problem.....

Almost every problem related to insurgency across the world is invariably related to a single thing, to describe which, I would borrow a phrase from our great revolutionary Bhagat Singh's diary - 'Exploitation of Man by Man'. And this exploitation is usually manifested in the control and use of resources by those who are not the real stakeholders or at least hold less stake than those who suffer.

Be it Palestine, Chechnya, Afghanistan, North-East India, Kashmir the same problem lie in the roots. The case of Lalgarh, as discussed by Soumik, can be called a classic case for this.

However, I am doubtful if - at this juncture - that solving this imbalance in the allocation of resources will solve any issue. This is because these imbalances were just a fertile ground from where have grown the problem of insurgency. What I mean to say is that though insurgents usually claim to be fighting for the people.... it is rarely a case. Usually, they have their own agenda.

I feel that crushing the rebellion by force and then cleansing the system so as to make possible the usage of resources by the real stakeholders is what would take us near the solution.

[:)]

May I add that this is my opinion and we may agree to disagree.

Right you are...... all you need to get history into a talking mode is a bit of silence and then come out stories of many kinds..... of wars, peace, love, hate, and what not...

Looking at history presents a paradox....... it might bias your mind..... but if you don't - well it is always better to learn from the mistakes of others rather than commiting the same ones by yourself...

Jawaharlal Nehru writes in 'the Discovery of India' - "You look to history and you lose an eye; but if you don't look at it - you lose both of them..... ;)
